This year we are making a bull merchandising change to better serve our buyers. On March 1st, we will hold a Private Treaty Sale. We have chosen this merchandising format to give all our customers the opportunity to purchase from our entire group of bulls. The sale process will be similar to a silent auction. The bulls will be split into pens with a base price listed on each pen. Buyers will receive a buyer number and a card where you will list any bulls you are interested in bidding on. At Noon, we will place on a master board, your buyer number on the bull(s) that you have marked on your card. Starting at 1:00 p.m., there will be a bid-off between the buyer’s who match with a given bull. We will start with the top pen, on the bull in that pen with the most interest. Putting your number on a bull does not obligate you to bid on that bull but gives you the option to bid. At any time you may remove your number from a bull. After the first round of bidding, we will take a short break to view the bulls that have not sold. The bidding will then be open to everyone on the remaining bulls. You are welcome to stop at the ranch to view the bulls prior to the sale. If you are interested in bidding on a bull, but are unable to attend on sale day, we will work with you. Phone bids will be accepted.
We are excited to offer our top set of 60 Charolais and 25 Red Angus bulls. Enclosed is a listing of the bulls. At West Fork Ranch, we continue to strive for uniformity, along with performance and these bulls show great potential. The bulls are developed on a growing ration, which is not designed for high gains, but to keep them growing, while maintaining their natural thickness and muscle.
Ultrasound data will be available sale day and posted on our web site the week before the sale. If you would like a copy prior to the sale, please give me a call. Grid based marketing has gained much attention over the last few years and we feel that our bulls’ performance and ultrasound data will allow you to select a herd sire that will pay for himself by adding increased revenue to your operation.
We will keep the bulls until mid-April. Bulls purchased on March 1st will be delivered free of charge within 200 miles. All bulls are guaranteed to be breeders. Any bull that has not been proven a breeder within 90 days after June 1st, if in healthy condition, may be returned to us, at the buyer’s expense. West Fork Ranch reserves the right to test the bull. All bulls that do not sell on March 1st will be for sale at private treaty after that day.
