WEST FORK RANCH
CHAROLAIS & RED ANGUS PRIVATE TREATY BULL SALE
Dear Producers,
What a great year of change it has been for the livestock industry. It makes bringing those calves in out of the
cold a little more bearable. It has also been a year of change here at West Fork without my Dad helping out.
But with good hired help and my nephew Jarod, we are continuing what my Dad started 26 years ago. I am
excited about the Charolais and Red Angus bulls we have to offer this year. Enclosed is a listing of the bulls.
I think this is one of the most uniform groups of bulls we have raised. The bulls have been developed on a
growing ration, which is not designed for high gains, but to keep them growing, while maintaining their
natural thickness and muscle.
This year again we are going to hold a Private Treaty Sale the first Saturday in March. The sale process will
be similar to a silent auction. The bulls will be split into pens with a base price listed on each pen. Buyers will
receive a buyer number and a card where you will list any bulls you are interested in bidding on. At Noon, we
will place on a master board, your buyer number on the bull(s) that you have marked on your card. Starting
at 1:00 p.m., there will be a bid-off between the buyers who match with a given bull. We will start with the
bull with the most interest on him. Putting your number on a bull does not obligate you to bid on that bull
but gives you the option to bid. At any time you may remove your number from a bull. After the first round
of bidding, we will take a short break to view the bulls that have not sold. The bidding will then be open
to everyone on the remaining bulls. We have chosen this merchandising format to give all our customers
the opportunity to purchase from our entire group of bulls. You are welcome to stop at the ranch to view
the bulls prior to the sale. If you are interested in bidding on a bull, but are unable to attend on sale day, we
will work with you. Phone bids will be accepted.
We will keep the bulls until mid-April. Bulls purchased on March 3rd will be delivered free of charge within
200 miles. All bulls are guaranteed to be breeders. Any bull that has not been proven a breeder within 90 days
after June 1st, if in healthy condition, may be returned to us, at the buyer’s expense. West Fork Ranch reserves
the right to test the bull. Any bulls that do not sell on March 3rd will be for sale at private treaty after that day.
We also have a select group of long yearling bulls for sale at private treaty. These are bulls that were too young
to be offered for sale last spring. There are Charolais, Red Angus, and a few black bulls from our Commercial
club calf herd. The black bulls are composites that are black Angus based.
If you need more information or you would like to view the bulls prior to March 3rd, please call. Scheduling a
time to look at the bulls allows me to better serve you. I would be happy to visit with you and offer help in
choosing the bull(s) that will fit your program. I can e-mail digital photos on any bull of interest. If I can be of assistance,
please call my cell phone at 308-750-8708.
If you are at the Cattlemen’s Classic stop by and visit with me. The Red Angus sale is Feb. 22nd. The Charolais
sale is Feb. 23rd, Charolais bull #1050 is consigned to sell at the Classic.
We look forward to seeing you on Saturday, March 3rd. Plan to join us for lunch.
Thank you,
Roseann
